Summer 2025 Private Tutoring

General Information

To schedule your session or package, please contact the tutor

  • Tutoring sessions are open to students in rising 5th grade through recent high school graduates – and to moms!
  • Schedule your sessions to fit your activities: Monday through Friday, any 90-minute session between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm. (No sessions are available on Memorial Day, Independence Day, or around the CSTHEA Expo and exhibitor set-up: 17-19 July.)
  • Available dates are between Tuesday, 27 May and Friday, 1 August
  • Scheduling is available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • No charge for moms who will be auditing alongside their students
  • No refunds can be given.
  • Tuition for individual sessions must be paid at the time of the session. Tuition for packages must be paid: first 1/2 by the start of your first session; second 1/2 by the start of the fifth session (Persuasive Essay package and Ancients & Medievals package) or the third session (all other packages).
  • Make-up sessions will be scheduled around all other sessions and may need to be held at the end of the summer.
  • Sessions will not and may not be recorded.

PERSUASIVE ESSAY WRITING PACKAGE

  • Learn to write persuasive essays following the process used in Writing III
  • Includes one print copy of applicable Writing III guides per student
  • Students must purchase their own books
  • $600 for eight, 90-minute lessons for one student; $900 for eight, 90-minute lessons taken by two students
  • If meeting off Signal Mountain: $56 additional travel charge total, paid at start of first session
  • Choose your own pair of books from the list below: Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Twain’s Huckleberry Finn; Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Lewis’ Perelandra; Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Hope’s Prisoner of Zenda; Shakespeare’s As You Like It and Orczy’s Scarlet Pimpernel; Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and Austen’s Pride and Prejudice

ANCIENTS & MEDIEVALS STUDY PACKAGE

  • Get an overview of Ancient History & Literature and Medieval History & Literature
  • Includes one print copy of available guides per student
  • $600 for eight, 90-minute lessons for one student; $900 for eight, 90-minute lessons taken by two students
  • If meeting off Signal Mountain: $56 additional travel charge total, paid at the start of the first session

HISTORY OR LITERATURE ERA STUDY PACKAGE

  • Get an overview of one standard Scriptorium course
  • Includes one print copy of available guides per student (note that not all courses have guides)
  • $300 for four, 90-minute lessons for one student; $450 for four, 90-minute lessons taken by two students
  • If meeting off Signal Mountain: $28 additional travel charge total, paid at the start of the first session
  • Choose your own course from the list below: Ancient History; Ancient Literature; Medieval History; Medieval Literature; US History; British and American Literature; Modern History; Modern Literature; Fine Arts; Philosophy, Politics & Economics

CURSIVE PENMANSHIP & CALLIGRAPHY PACKAGE

  • Practice a legible modern cursive alphabet and 2-3 historic calligraphy fonts; learn how to incorporate calligraphy into your schoolwork to improve your memory
  • Includes one print copy of guides and activity sheets per student
  • Students must purchase their own supplies
  • $240 for four, 90-minute lessons for one student; $360 for four, 90-minute lessons taken by two students
  • If meeting off Signal Mountain: $28 additional travel charge total, paid at the start of the first session

BOOK STUDY PACKAGE

  • Study up to three books typically read for Scriptorium courses
  • Includes one print copy of available reading guides per student (note that not all books have guides)
  • Students must purchase their own books
  • $300 for four, 90-minute lessons for one student; $450 for four, 90-minute lessons taken by two students
