ALL HISTORY, LITERATURE, POLITICS & WRITING COURSES
*** You should develop the habit of keeping your supplies and books in the same place/bag and bringing them to each class meeting. Do not assume that extra materials or books will be available if you forget your own!***
- Composition books (or other notebook with sturdy cover and sewn binding, recommended)
- 1 for class and reading notes <= One per course (If you take lots of notes, you may want 2)
- All writing tutorial students: 1 for written work <= One per course
- Notebook for commonplacing (can be an additional composition book or a higher-quality binding) <= Can be used across all courses, or you may want a commonplace book for each course
- 1 three-ring binder and tab dividers for hand-outs (and research if taking Writing III/supplement, PPE with writing tutorial, or US History with writing tutorial) <= Can be used across all courses
- Pens/pencils <= Can be used across all courses
- Writing I students: Pack of 100 index cards (and something to hold them in!)
- Middle School History students OPTIONAL: Either pack of 100 index cards (and something to hold them in!) or unlined paper or unlined notebook for our timeline and maps work
- OPTIONAL: <= Can be used across all courses
- Planner for scheduling your work
- Marking your books is recommended; but if you do not plan to write in your books, sticky notes for marking key passages will be useful
- Adhesive tabs for marking your composition books
- Your preferred calligraphy/art supplies for Scriptorium Days (can include old-fashioned ink/nib pens, calligraphy pens, markers, colored pencils, oil pastels, specialty paper, etc.) *Some supplies will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own!
FINE ARTS
- Sketchbook (9″x12″ is a good size)
- Drawing pencils (basic set, with charcoal and blending tortillons)
- Heavy paper (cardstock or artists’ painting paper) <= Note that you may want to use binder clips or a clip board to keep your paper flat, especially if you are using loose paper instead of an artist pad
- Acrylic paints (at least black, white, red, blue, yellow)
- Watercolor paints (at least black, red, blue, yellow)
- Paint brushes (mix of large, medium, and fine tips)
- Paper plates or paint palette
- Small jar or cup for water
- Optional: Large shirt or apron
