Schedule and Calendar

SUMMER 2024

All Scriptorium classes and activities meet on Signal Mountain, Tennessee, for eight weeks (week of 3 June through week of 22 July).

Mondays

  • Writing II: Logic, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Rising 7th grade strong readers and up – Each class meeting will include two class segments with a lunch break in between. **Please note that Writing II is required for all students taking history/literature/government courses through Scriptorium.**

Tuesdays

  • Philosophy, Politics & Economics, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Rising 9th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II
  • Fine Arts, 12:30 – 3:00 pm – Rising 7th grade and up

Wednesdays

  • Novels of Jane Austen, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Young ladies only; Rising 6th grade through high school graduates

  • Ancient History, 12:15 – 1:45 pm – 8th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II
  • Ancient Literature, 1:45 – 3:15 pm – 8th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II

Tuesdays

  • Philosophy, Politics & Economics, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm – 9th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II
  • United States History (with 6-hour credit option through Bryan College), 12:15 – 1:45 pm – 8th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II; Undergraduate credit may only be earned by 10th grade and up
  • American and British Literature, 1:45 – 3:15 pm – 8th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II

Wednesdays

  • Middle School History: Medieval & Renaissance, 9:00 am – 10:30 am – 5th-9th grades only
  • Writing III: Rhetoric and Junior/Senior Thesis, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm – 11th and 12th grade only; Pre-requisites: Writing II and two or more prior Scriptorium courses (history, literature, PPE) OR tutor’s permission
  • Modern History (with 3-hour credit option through Bryan College), 12:15 – 1:45 pm – 11th and 12th grade only; Pre-requisites: Writing II, Ancients, and Medievals OR tutor’s permission
  • Modern Literature, 1:45 – 3:15 pm – 11th and 12th grade only; Pre-requisites: Writing II, Ancients, and Medievals OR tutor’s permission

Thursdays

  • Medieval History, 12:15 – 1:45 pm – 8th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II
  • Medieval Literature, 1:45 – 3:15 pm – 8th grade and up; Pre-requisite: Writing II

Fall Semester 2024 Dates

Fall 2024 classes begin the week of August 12-15 and end the week of December 9-12. Classes do not meet during the week of Thanksgiving (November 25-29). Defense Day – required for all students – is Thursday, December 12. Classes do meet on federal holidays.

Spring Semester 2024 Dates

Spring 2025 classes begin the week of January 6-9 and end the week of May 5-8. Classes do not meet during Holy Week (April 14-18). Defense Day – required for all students – is Thursday, May 8. Classes do meet on federal holidays.
